What Happens when Grease is Poured Down the Sink?

When should you pour grease down your kitchen sink or any sink for that matter? Answer: Never
Even if you flush it with hot or cold water, it can still congeal and cling to your pipes. This can lead to serious blockages and backups resulting in significant damage to your home or business.
While many people use detergent to break up grease before pouring it down the drain and that might help.... Why take the risk when there is no guarantee that it will keep the grease from sticking to your pipes?
The safest and best thing to do is pour the grease in an empty can or bucket. You then let it sit or put it in the refrigerator. When it hardens, toss it in the trash and get rid of it. Done and done. No clogged pipes or water damage to worry about from grease.
Pipe leaks and backups from clogged pipes can cause water damage to your home as well as mold issues if the water damage is not soon addressed.
